Team Harvey Racing was established in 1991 and has traditionally consisted
of Phil Harvey on the 125cc GP machines and his father Mick Harvey on the
F2 Super Sidecars, both riders have struggled for many a year with very little
financial backing with Phil being able to subsidise his racing by manufacturing
knee sliders, which he still does see; www.slidez.co.uk and www.kneeslidez.com
but with the additional financial support of theFSD.com the team have been
able to offer Phil a 600cc Yamaha R6 to run along side his 125cc machine.
Postcard from Cartegena 2007
Phil Harvey found himself delighted with the new GP250 he took delivery of and tested in Spain. After two seasons where he felt he wasn't doing himself justice, he was over the moon with the bike and feels that if he can sort out the injured hand he will be able to realise his undoubted talent. In perfect conditions over a four day session, Phil got down to some serious lapping : now the task is to squeeze as much power as possible out of the engine for the NW200.
2009 Mixed Fortunes

3rd at the North West !!
But the Ulster was another story.
Phil Harvey scored the biggest result of his 18 year racing career when he finished 3rd in the prestigious 2009 North West 200 in May. On a circuit 9 miles in length over public roads in Coleraine, Phil seized a last lap opportunity to win his podium position. He is pictured here with William Dunlop, and Chris Palmer. Placings also came at Oliver’s Mount Scarborough though it was here where his season faltered later in the year. An accident damaged his back and he was not fully fit to race when he went to the Ulster Grand Prix in August. Whilst lying high in the placings Phil was brought off by another rider He was badly shaken, but not seriously hurt; more than can be said for his prized Honda (pictured after the crash). The last major event of the year came in the Isle of Man where he gained a 5th place in the lightweight race. Conditions on the famous TT course were appalling, but a typically gritty performance saw him through.
Like many riders, Phil is finding funds hard to come by in these financially demanding times but no doubt the same driving spirit he has shown so in the past will keep him on the grids next year.
