Nigel Beattie

Manxman Nigel Beattie started racing in 1995 and is now a real force in the real road racing world. From winning the 2002 Lightweight Grand Prix Nigel has developed steadily with 2004 registering some notable achievements. High spot was probably the 3rd Place in the Ultra Lightweight TT with top 15 places in the Formula 1, Junior and Senior TTs. Outside the TT there have been no less significant performances. He finished 12th in the 600 North West 200 race. Later in the year he was the best newcomer at the Southern 100 and scored a 12th place in the star-studded Ulster GP 600 event. A telecom engineer whose hobbies include Italian food and Stella Artois, Nigel's great ambition is to win a TT. Cruel luck denied him his first international win in the 2005 NW 200 250 race, but top ten positions at the TT helped make up for that. A blistering performance in the Ulster GP also highlighted the season, where he held off William Dunlop for many miles in a tremendous race. He is pictured at Wheeler's during that race in which he eventually finished fifth.
Evomoto and Nigel 2006
Team Evomoto is a new name in the world of motorcycle road racing, but the man behind the team, Dave Hagen, is known by many from his experience as a leading engine builder in British Superbike, World Superbike, and MotoGP.
Team Evomoto rider for 2006 will be former Manx Grand Prix winner and TT podium finisher, 27-year-old Nigel Beattie, from Laxey in the Isle of Man. Speaking about the signing of Nigel, Dave Hagen commented:' Having worked closely with Nigel for the last two seasons, I have seen his riding progress in leaps and bounds. The team we are putting together for the 2006 season should enable him to be right in amongst the thick of it, at the major road racing events. Making sure he has the right equipment and support to do the best possible job this year is my mission, and I believe we have the right package. His dedication, professional approach and his passion for racing reflect my own, so I felt the time was right to start my own team, with Nigel as our sole rider to begin with.'
The team will be contesting all the major international road race meetings, such as the North West 200, the Isle of Man TT, and the Ulster Grand Prix, as well as the Southern 100 and Scarborough events. The team will have a Yamaha R1 Superbike courtesy of Robbie Black of Blacks Fireplaces (IOM), a Yamaha R6 Supersport provided by Road and Track Motor Cycles (IOM), Nigels own Honda RS 250, and the Mannin Collections / Lloyds TSB 125 Honda at selected meetings.
Although Nigel has brought his loyal personal sponsors with him to this exciting new team, plus his four mechanics - who travel to all the meetings and pay all their own expenses, the team are still looking for sponsorship for 2006 and have, as yet, no title sponsor. They would very much like to talk to any companies or individuals who would like the opportunity to get in at ground level with this very exciting new, but vastly experienced team.
If you would like to contact the team they will be only too happy to show you around their workshop facilities, and give you a presentation of what they can offer you in return for your support.
